Specificity/Sensitivity
Abi3 Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total Abi3 protein. This antibody recognizes a band at ~100 kDa of unknown origin.
Source / Purification
Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Leu182 of human Abi3 protein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromatography.
Background
Abi1, Abi2, and Abi3 are members of the Abl1 interactor family (Abi), which function as adaptor signaling molecules downstream of the receptor tyrosine kinase Abl1 (1-3). In addition to binding to Abl1, all Abi proteins contain a Src homology 3 (SH3) domain and interact with the WAVE complex, an actin regulator involved in membrane ruffling and lamellipodia formation (4,5). As cytoskeletal adaptor proteins, Abi proteins are likely to regulate actin cytoskeletal remodeling. Interestingly, ABI3, the gene encoding Abi3, is genetically linked to Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Abi3 may contribute to microglia-mediated AD progression by regulating microglial morphology (6,7).

Species Reactivity
Species reactivity is determined by testing in at least one approved application (e.g., western blot).
Western Blot Buffer
IMPORTANT: For western blots, incubate membrane with diluted primary antibody in 5% w/v BSA, 1X TBS, 0.1% Tween® 20 at 4°C with gentle shaking, overnight.
