    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of human NLRP6 protein.

    Background

NLR family pyrin domain containing 6 (NLRP6, NALP6, PYPAF5), a member of the NOD-like receptor (NLR) family, acts as an innate immune sensor of microbe-associated molecular patterns (1). NLRP6 is primarily expressed in epithelial cells, mainly in the gastrointestinal tract (1,2,5). Like other NLR family members, NLRP6 is composed of three domains: a pyrin domain (PYD), a nucleotide-binding domain (NBD), and a leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domain (5). Upon activation, NLRP6 may form an inflammasome, a multiprotein complex that functions as a sensor of damage-associated molecular patterns (1-5). The NLRP6 inflammasome is involved in the activation of caspase-1 and subsequent processing of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-18 as part of the innate immune response (1-5). NLRP6 may also play a role in regulating intestinal homeostasis (2-5).
