With the goal of a 75% diversion rate by 2025 in mind, CST is making a strong effort to manage our waste streams for minimal impact on the environment.
- Compost at US Facilities. Both of our cafeterias in the US are stocked with 100% compostable and reusable service ware, and all food waste is composted at both sites.
- Single-stream recycling. Facilities in the US utilize single stream recycling, and work closely with waste haulers and vendors to reduce streams and increase recyclability. Part of the CST waste goal is to understand where everything that leaves our facilities is going, and how it’s being processed.
- Lab Recycling. CST continues to expand recycling opportunities for our labs. Current programs include EPS foam collection, pipette tip box recycling, and amber glass downcycling. CST is focused on reducing single-use plastic and developing more circular solutions. CST reuses and refills empty pipette tip boxes to reduce plastic waste.
- Printing. Marketing is shifting to print on demand, and departments are moving to digital forms and storage. CST is working to move away from individual printers to printing stations in an effort to reduce employee printing.
