    Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Glu355 of human GIGYF2 protein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromatography.

    Background

    GRB10-interacting GYF protein 2 (GIGYF2) is part of a macromolecular protein complex, which also also contains 4EHP, that functions to repress the translation of a distinct subset of mRNAs during embryonic development. Indeed, disruption of 4EHP and GIGYF2 complex formation prevents normal embryonic development in mice (1). Research studies have also demonstrated that GIGYF2 is involved in repressing translation of defective mRNAs, which prevents expression of potentially toxic protein products (2). In addition to its role in repression of protein translation, GIGYF2 may cooperate with the Grb10 adapter protein to regulate signaling of receptor tyrosine kinases (3).
