    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

KLRG1 (2F1) Hamster mAb (PE Conjugate) recognizes endogenous levels of total KLRG1 protein. This antibody detects an epitope within the extracellular domain.

    Species Reactivity:

    Mouse

    Source / Purification

This monoclonal antibody was purified from tissue culture supernatant via affinity chromatography. The purified antibody was conjugated under optimal conditions, with unreacted dye removed from the preparation.

    Background

Killer cell lectin-like receptor G1 (KLRG1), also known as mast cell function associated antigen (MAFA), is an inhibitory type II transmembrane lectin-like receptor (1,2). This glycoprotein is expressed on a subset of natural killer (NK) and T cells (3,4). KLRG1 is considered a marker of T cell senescence (5,6). Studies have shown that KLRG1 is upregulated by MHC Class I molecule expression and these interactions can be mediated by lectin-like class I-specific Ly49 inhibitory receptors (1,3). KLRG1 triggering interferes with the activating TCR pathway and inhibits cytotoxicity (2). Specifically, KLRG1 binds to cadherin family ligands (E-, N-, and R-), inhibiting NK cell cytotoxicity (7). The effect that KLRG1 has on NK cell differentiation, maturation, homeostasis, and activation, make it an important target when studying innate immune regulation and chronic viral infections (8).
The 2F1 antibody is widely used to detect KLRG1 on mouse cells (1).
