    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

Aldolase C (E7I4X) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total fructose bisphosphate aldolase C protein. This antibody does not cross-react with fructose bisphosphate aldolase A or fructose bisphosphate aldolase B proteins. This antibody detects a non-specific band of unknown origin at 75 kDa in mouse lung tissue extracts.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Asn90 of human aldolase C protein.

    Background

Aldolase (fructose bisphosphate aldolase), a glycolytic enzyme, catalyzes the conversion of fructose 1, 6-bisphosphate to 3-phosphoglyceraldehyde. This ubiquitous enzyme is present as three different isozymes: aldolase A, aldolase B, and aldolase C. Research studies suggest that aldolase A expression potentially differentiates between nonneoplastic liver diseases and hepatocarcinoma (1). Furthermore, investigators have shown that changes in aldolase B gene expression levels have been observed in certain patients with this primary tumor (2,3).
Aldolase C is primarily expressed in the central nervous system (4). Studies have shown increased detection of serum aldolase C following traumatic brain injury (TBI) and mild TBI, showing potential for aldolase C as a biomarker for TBI (5,6).
