Protocol

Specificity / Sensitivity

CA 19-9 (C241:5:1:4) Mouse mAb recognizes endogenous levels of CA 19-9 protein. This antibody has minimal cross-reactivity (<1%) with sialyl lacto-N-tetraosylceramide. This antibody does not cross-react with Lewis A, Lewis B, or structurally-related substances.

Species Reactivity:

Human

Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with human colorectal adenocarcinoma Colo 205 cells.

Background

CA 19-9 specifically binds to the epitope of sialylated Lewis A carbohydrate structure, which is the functional ligand for E-selectin and is involved in the adhesion of cancer cells (1,2). The CA 19-9 antigen has been of clinical interest in detection, diagnosis, and management of cancers such as pancreatic and gastrointestinal carcinomas (3,4).
