    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

CCDC124 (E2G4Q) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total CCDC124 protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat, Monkey

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of human CCDC124 protein.

    Background

Translation is reversibly shut down in cells that are deprived of nutrients. In these cells, ribosomes bind to inhibitory factors and are kept inactive. After nutrient deprivation, translation recovers. CCDC124 (coiled-coil domain-containing protein 124/coiled-coil domain-containing short open reading frame 124) plays an active role in translation recovery after starvation (1). In addition, research studies show that the non-structural protein 1 (Nsp1) from SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2) associates with ribosomes and shuts down host protein translation. CCDC124 is in one of the two major populations of translationally inactive ribosomes in the Nsp1-bound 80S complexes (2).
