    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

CD1A (MTB1) Mouse mAb recognizes endogenous levels of CD1A protein. Non-specific staining was observed in brain by immunohistochemistry.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a prokaryotic recombinant fusion protein corresponding to the full external domain of human CD1A protein.

    Background

CD1A is a type 1 cell surface transmembrane glycoprotein structurally similar to MHC Class 1 that is expressed in association with β2-microglobulin (1). CD1A is a member of the CD1 family and has been shown to mediate the presentation of primary lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cell lymphocytes for recognition (1,2). It is expressed by Langerhans’ cells, cortical double positive and single positive thymocytes, and by interdigitating dendritic cells (1). CD1A has been shown to identify T cell development (3).
