    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro252 of human CELF1 protein.

    Background

CELF1, also known as CUG-BP1, is a member of the CUG-BP, Elav-like family (CELF), which can bind enhancers to direct alternate splicing (1). CELF1 is widely expressed, can bind triple CUG repeat sequences, and was initially shown to play a role in alternative translation of C/EBP isoforms. (2-4). CELF1 plays an important role in the pathogenesis of myotonic dystrophy, a disease categorized by expansion of CTG repeats in the myotonia protein kinase gene (DMPK). This kinase is capable of phosphorylating CELF1, which can regulate its localization and affect mRNA processing and transport (2,3). In addition, CELF1 has also been shown to play roles in various cancer types (5-7).
