Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/mL BSA, 50% glycerol, and less than 0.02% sodium azide. Store at –20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody.

    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

Glut5 (F4A5K) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total Glut5 protein. This antibody does not cross-react with Glut1, Glut2, Glut3, or Glut4 protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of human Glut5 protein.

    Background

Glucose transporter 5 (Glut5, also known as SLC2A5) functions as a fructose transporter. Glut5 transports fructose into epithelial cells of small intestine (1,2). Besides the small intestine, Glut5 is also expressed in other tissues, such as skeletal muscle and the prostate gland (3). In addition, studies show that Glut5 expression is significantly upregulated in prostate cancer, and fructose promotes prostate cancer growth (2). Furthermore, fructose metabolism mediated by Glut5 in tumor endothelial cells from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) enhances tumor angiogenesis by boosting respiration in mitochondria (4).
