    Human

    Source / Purification

Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of human IFIT2 protein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromatography.

    Background

IFIT2 (Interferon-induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 2, ISG54) belongs to the IFIT family of proteins, which consists of four members in humans (IFIT1, IFIT2, IFIT3, and IFIT5) and three members in mice (IFIT1, IFIT2, and IFIT3) (1). IFIT2 expression is transiently induced by exposure to interferons, double-stranded RNA, or viruses (2). IFIT2 has been shown to inhibit translation by binding to the eukaryotic initiation factor 3 (eIF3) (2). In addition, IFIT2 forms a multiprotein complex with the related proteins IFIT1 and IFIT3, which stimulates cell death via a mitochondrial pathway and prevents viral replication (3,4).
