    Intersectin-2 (E5J9F) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total intersectin-2 protein. This antibody reacts with intersectin-2L and intersectin-2S protein isoforms but does not cross-react with the corresponding isoforms of intersectin-1 protein. This antibody cross-reacts with proteins of unknown identity between 80 kDa and 120 kDa in some rat cell extracts.

    Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Lys335 of human intersectin-2 protein.

    Background

    Intersectin-2 is a ubiquitously expressed, modular adaptor protein that participates in clathrin-mediated endocytosis through interaction with multiple proteins involved in trafficking of proteins through the endocytic pathway. Like its paralog, intersectin-1, there are two major isoforms of mammalian intersectin-2. Intersectin-2L and intersectin-2S are generated through alternative splicing of mRNA transcripts. The structure of both isoforms is characterized by two N-terminal EH domains, a central coiled-coil domain, followed by five tandem SH3 domains. The longer isoform, intersection-2L, contains an extended C-terminus with a Rho-GEF domain that controls the activity of the Cdc42 GTPase, a PH domain, and a calcium binding C2 domain (1-3). Research studies have shown that intersectin-2 plays a role in T cell receptor (TCR) signaling by promoting endocytosis of the TCR following its activation (4).
