    Background

Lck-interacting transmembrane adaptor 1 (LIME1) is a type III transmembrane adaptor protein that participates in lymphocyte signaling and is predominantly expressed in T lineage cells and plasma cells (1,2). LIME1 also harbors a palmitoylation motif for targeting to lipid rafts and potential tyrosine phosphorylation sites that are engaged upon CD4 and CD8 cross-linking (1). Research studies have demonstrated that in response to T cell receptor (TCR) engagement, LIME1 expression is upregulated, undergoes tyrosine phosphorylation, and associates with numerous signaling proteins such as Lck, GADS, and Vav. Collectively, these observations point toward a role for LIME1 in the regulation of T cell activation and adhesion (3,4).
