    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

mCherry (E5D8F) Rabbit mAb detects mCherry-tagged proteins (either N-terminal tagged or C-terminal tagged) exogenously expressed in cells. Please note that the mCherry tags add approximately 28kDa to the molecular weight of the fusion protein.

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a full length recombinant mCherry protein.

    Background

Epitope tags are useful for the labeling and detection of proteins using immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunostaining techniques. Because of their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein’s biochemical properties.

mCherry is a monomeric, fluorescent, photostable red dye that was isolated from and further engineered from the Discosoma sea anemone (1). Its peak fluorescent excitation is at 587 nm and emission 610 nm (1).
