    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

Myogenin (LO26) Mouse mAb recognizes endogenous levels of myogenin protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a prokaryotic recombinant fusion protein corresponding to myogenin protein.

    Background

Myogenin (MYOG), also called myogenic factor 4 (Myf-4), is a transcriptional regulatory protein that belongs to the myogenic basic helix-loop-helix protein family, which also includes MyoD, Myf-5, and MRF4 (1). It is involved in skeletal muscle development and differentiation and is a marker for myogenesis (1,2). Detection of aberrant myogenin expression is also useful in pathology as an indicator of rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) (2,3).
