    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

NCAM2 (E8J3B) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total NCAM2 protein. This antibody does not cross-react with NCAM1.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Gly261 of human NCAM2 protein.

    Background

NCAM (neural cell adhesion molecule) is an adhesion glycoprotein with five extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains followed by two fibronectin type III repeats. Two NCAM paralogs (NCAM1 and NCAM2) are encoded in the mammalian genome, which encode NCAM/NCAM1 and NCAM2 proteins, respectively (1,2). As an adhesion molecule with brain-enriched expression, NCAM2 functions to drive axonal targeting, neurite branching, and synaptic development (2-4). NCAM2 is also genetically linked to Down syndrome and may play a role in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (2,5).
