    Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Gly40 of human RNMT protein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromatography.

    Background

    RNA guanine-7 methyltransferase (RNMT) is the enzyme responsible for providing the methyl group on the 7 position on the guanosine at the 5’ cap of mRNAs. The methyl group provides a docking site for eIF4E and subsequent formation of the eIF4F complex to promote translation (1-4). RNMT binds along with activating subunit RNMT-activating miniprotein (RAM), which is required for efficient methylation of the mRNA cap (5). In addition to the methyltransferase activity, RNMT-RAM has been shown to affect RNA pol II occupancy, and knockdown has been shown to reduce mRNA production (6,7). RNMT-RAM has also been shown to play a role in rRNA synthesis by controlling RNA pol I activity through controlling expression of c-Myc (8).
