    Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro333 of human TRMT6 protein.

    Background

    TRMT6 and TRMT61A, formerly known as GCD10 and GCD14 in yeast, are essential, conserved proteins that form a heterodimer responsible for N1-methylation (m1A) of adenosine 58 in tRNA (1-4). TRMT6 is an RNA-binding protein that recognizes target substrates, while TRMT61A binds AdoMet to catalyze the methylation event (4). TRMT6/61A can additionally produce the m1A mark in small RNAs such as tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs) and also in mRNAs, though in much lower abundance (5,6). The heterodimeric complex is localized to stress granules during heat shock and provides protection for the transcriptome (7). TRMT6 has shown to play a role in progression of malignant gliomas (8). Disruption of the heterodimer has been shown to negatively affect T cell expansion in mice (9).
