    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

WWP1 (E1W4V) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total WWP1 protein. The antibody detects non-specific bands of unknown origin above 200 kDa.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with recombinant protein specific to the amino terminus of human WWP1 protein.

    Background

WWP1 (WW domain-containing protein 1, AIP5, Tiul1) is a NEDD4 family ubiquitin E3 ligase (1). The protein regulates many cellular processes, including protein trafficking and degradation, transcription, and signaling. WWP1 ubiquitination activity contributes to the progression of many diseases through polyubiquitination of crucial factors, such as cardiac hypertrophy via the WWP1/DVL2 pathway, Ebola virus egress via the WWP1/eVP40 pathway, and muscle atrophy via the WWP1/KLF15 pathway (2-4). Aberrant high expression of WWP1 is found in many types of tumors, including colorectal cancer, oral cancer, gastric cancer, hepatocellular cancer, and breast cancer (5). The upregulation of WWP1 activity enhances polyubiquitination of tumor suppressors, such as ΔNp63α, PTEN, p53, KLF5, and p27, and ultimately promotes cell proliferation, survival, migration, and invasion in tumorigenesis (6-10). Given the dysregulation and oncogenic functions of WWP1 in these diseases, the protein is considered as a promising therapeutic target.
